Sources

EventsEach event's public sponsor page and exhibitor directory, recorded by edition. Exhibitors are listed separately and not counted as sponsors.
NewslettersPublic newsletter archives (beehiiv, Substack, Kit, Ghost) and the issues newsletters email to their subscribers, which we sign up for like any other reader. Each issue's sponsor placements are recorded with the newsletter, the issue and the date. Booking dates appear only where the publisher states them.
PodcastsEpisode show notes, and ad reads in transcribed episodes where the audio host allows it. Only the sponsor name and a short excerpt are kept, never the audio or a transcript.
RatesWhere a newsletter publishes an advertising page, we link to it and quote any stated price or audience exactly, with the date it was checked.
EstimatesA sponsor report may show an estimated price range for a newsletter's main slot. It appears only when the newsletter states its audience, is always a range, and says how accurate the method has been. A published rate always replaces it.

Event terms

SponsorA company the event lists on its sponsor page. Where the page groups sponsors by level (Platinum, Gold and so on), we keep the level as the event wrote it.
Featured exhibitorAn exhibitor with a paid, upgraded listing in the event's exhibitor directory, such as a highlighted profile or logo. Counted as an exhibitor, not a sponsor.
ExhibitorA company with booth space, from the event's exhibitor directory or the exhibitor section of its sponsor page. Never counted as a sponsor.
PartnerA media, community or supporting partner the event lists. Partners usually exchange promotion rather than pay, so they are listed separately and not counted as sponsors.
EditionOne year of an event. Where an organizer keeps a single list without a year, it is shown as the latest edition.
SectorAssigned from the event's subject, one sector per event.

Newsletter and podcast terms

PlacementOne sponsor slot in one newsletter issue.
Main sponsorThe primary sponsor slot in an issue, as the newsletter lays it out.
NewA sponsor's first placement in a newsletter we have read for at least eight weeks.
CurrentA sponsor with a placement in the newsletter in the last 60 days.
RenewedA sponsor that ran in the same newsletter in three or more separate weeks.
Podcast sponsorA brand named as a paid sponsor in an episode's show notes or, for transcribed episodes, in an ad read.

Limits

PodcastsMost podcast records come from show notes. Host-read ads that the notes don't mention are missing until the episode is transcribed.
EventsAn event list is as complete as the organizer's own page. Some events publish only a sponsor list or only an exhibitor directory.
CompaniesCompanies are matched across events, newsletters and podcasts by website. A company listed by name only appears on that event's page but is not joined to its other records.
DatesSome events publish only a month. Those show the month, and drop out of upcoming lists once the month begins.
