About
Ad Almanac records which sponsors appear in newsletters' public issues, and which newsletters each sponsor appears in.
Where the data comes from
Every row on this site comes from public newsletter archives (beehiiv, Substack, Kit, Ghost) and the issues newsletters email to their subscribers, which we sign up for like any other reader. We read each new issue, note the sponsor placements in it, and record the newsletter, the issue, and the date. Booking dates appear only where the publisher states them in the issue itself.
Sponsor pages also show podcasts and conferences. Podcast sponsors come from each episode's show notes, and from the ad reads in episodes we transcribe where the audio host allows it; we keep the sponsor and a short line of evidence, never the audio or a transcript. Conference sponsors come from each event's own public sponsor page.
Where a newsletter has its own advertising page, we link to it. If that page states prices or an audience figure, we quote them as written, with the date we read the page.
A sponsor report may show an estimated price range for a newsletter's main slot. It appears only when the newsletter states its own audience, it is always a range, and it says how often the method lands within twice the real price on rate cards it hadn't seen. A publisher's own stated price always replaces it.
